Seventy students from the province of Namosi and the tikina of Waidina in Naitasiri are being assisted in Semester 1, 2014, under the Namosi Joint Venture (NJV) Education Assistance Programme. The flagship programme is now into its fifth year and has assisted over 500 students in tertiary studies since its inception. The value of the education assistance is approaching the million-dollar mark with $900,000 spent to date. NJV country manager Greg Morris said support for education and training was a central value for the company.
“A good education creates future opportunities for the recipients and these benefits will flow through to the communities. NJV strongly believes in the value of education and training, and the resources we put into this shows our commitment to community support and development in the areas we operate in,” Mr Morris said.
Applications for Semester 1, 2014 is now closed. The Education Assistance Programme guidelines and application form for Semester 2 will be available towards the end of July 2014 on the website www.njv.com.fj.
