Government officials present at the Naitasiri Council Meeting yesterday were told to be transparent with their work. Itaukei Affairs appointed representative Savenaca Madanavosa made this comments after most of the government officials were not aware of the issues raised from the meeting last year.
Many of the district representatives said most of their requests were not being met and they were not notified in writing. Mr Madanavosa said Government had been preaching transparency and leaders were ensuring that people were transparent with their work.
“The least you could do is write back to them to let them know if their requests are being met or not,” he said.
“All the agreements have been made verbally from the meeting last year. Again when they ask this year, you are again telling them that this is already part of your department’s plan.
“The least you could do is respond in writing when they enquire and write to you because in that case you are being transparent and that is good governance,” Mr Madanavosa said.
